Guided Wade Fishing
The South Platte River between Spinney and Elevenmile Reservoirs is a classic high meadow tailwater fishery with an impressive population of resident fish and some phenomenal spawners that move up into the river from Elevenmile. A more technical fishing challenge than those normally encountered on the Arkansas, fishing the South Platte successfully entails a good drag-free drift, the ability to sight fish, and a closer understanding of aquatic insects and their life cycles – all topics we address on these trips. Guided wade trips on the “Dream Stream” are available year-round and can depart either fly shop or meet at the Badger Basin Store in Hartsel (near the river).
Half-Day Wade Trip
This trip is designed for those who are tight on time but would like a taste of this more challenging fishing and a shot at some good-sized trout.
1 Angler $175, 2 Anglers $225.
Full-Day Wade Trip
Giving yourself some time on this river is a good idea. The challenges of spotting fish, fly selection, and presentation require some practice and the feeding activity can change dramatically through the day. The rewards of working this water are well worth the effort, however. And the skills one learns here will stand him in good stead anywhere in the world. Includes lunch.
1 Angler $275, 2 Anglers $335.
